900,000 Books Sent to Afghanistan

MASHHAD, Khorasan Prov. 900,000 school text books were sent to Afghanistan to be used by Afghan pupils, from Khorasan Province last month, said the Foreign Ministry's Representative Ali Qomi here Monday. He told IRNA that the books were presented by the provincial Education Department to the students in northern Afghanistan. He added that the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (AS) also sent 18 copies of the Holy Qoran to the people of Afghanistan. Qomi said that in line with Iran's humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan, every week a planeload of food and clothings is to be sent to the provinces of Bamian and Mazar-i-Sharif. He added that the relief supplies have been donated by the people of Iran, Red Crescent Society, the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee and the Committee for Support of Afghanistan. (IRNA)
